Self portrait // 2019

For the course innovation I decided to experiment with self-portraits out of pixels that I converted to an embroidery portrait. I started with an old TV, I flipped some switches and experimented with the interesting visuals. After that I decided to repeat that action in the program Max MSP, it’s a program where you can flip switches as well and creates visuals with the front camera of your laptop.

I was inspired by Faig Ahmed, he’s an artist that combines digital pixels with traditional handmade carpets. I wanted to create something with thread as well and decided to work with embroidery threat and translated one of the results from Max MSP into a tangible piece.
